OPP capture Windsor shooting suspect, one of Canada’s most-wanted

One of Canada’s most wanted fugitives – who faces charges in two Toronto homicides as well as a shooting incident in Windsor – was arrested Wednesday by Ontario Provincial Police.

Phillip Grant, 34, of Peel Region was arrested by members of the OPP-led repeat offender parole enforcement squad.

Grant was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, possession of a loaded restricted firearm and possession of a firearm contrary to an order in a double homicide in Mississauga in 2022.

He also faces multiple charges in a shooting incident on Windsor’s Via Italia last summer.

Windsor police responded to a fight involving multiple people on Erie Street East just after midnight on June 29.

Police allege Grant was involved in a fight and that witnesses saw Grant fire a single gunshot.

He fled the scene before officers arrived. No one was injured in the incident.
