Wingham emergency department to temporarily close during weekend

Another staffing issue will cause yet another emergency department closure.

On June 18 at 5 p.m., the Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance confirms that the Wingham and District Hospital emergency department will close. The ED will re-open at 7 a.m. the following day, June 19. At that time, regular hours of operation will resume.

The LWHA says in the release they deeply regret taking this action and all avenues were explored before announcing the upcoming ED closure in Wingham.

Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. Emergency Medical Services will remain available to the community and will be re-routed to surrounding hospitals.

The following is a list of closest hospitals (they may also be experiencing temporary closures
due to staffing shortages so it is advised that you confirm that they are open before heading
there):

-Listowel
-Clinton
-Goderich
-Palmerston
-Seaforth
-Kincardine
-Walkerton
