Investigators are asking residents or anyone who was in the area between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. and may have information, including surveillance or dashboard-camera footage, to contact London police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
There have been seven cases of gunfire in London this year, resulting in five people injured, compared to 28 shootings in all of last year.
Most recently, two masked men broke into a home on Meadowgate Boulevard, southeast of Commissioners Road and Highbury Avenue, and fired a shot that missed an occupant on Oct. 5. Shayne Cousins, 29, faces multiple charges in the case and London police are still trying to identify a second suspect.
London police update fire probe
London police say a fire that investigators initially considered suspicious has been ruled accidental.
It was about 7:30 p.m. on Monday when London firefighters were called to a home near the intersection of Gower Street and Oxford Street West, located just west of Wharncliffe Road. There were no injuries, police said.
Police appealed to witnesses to contact them if they saw any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the blaze. But on Wednesday, police said that “additional information was learned which indicated the cause of the fire was accidental in nature.”
The investigation is now closed, police said.
