Man arrested in stolen vehicle charged with string of thefts

Two people face charges after a string of break-ins across London through late summer and early fall.

A 45-year-old London man faces five counts of breaking and entering and theft, two counts of vehicle theft, and a charge of possession of property obtained by crime valued at less than $5,000. A 37-year-old London woman is also charged with possession of stolen property both less than and more than $5,000.

On Aug. 14, shortly after 3 a.m., a man broke into a business on Oxford Street, near Fanshawe College, London police said.

On the same date, at 4:30 a.m., a person broke into a business on Oxford Street, between Third Street and Clarke Road. The person stole a vehicle in the parking lot and returned to the first business, grabbed stolen property and left, police said.

Police said the break-ins and vehicle theft were reported to police the next morning.

On Sept. 15 at around 2:30 a.m., a man broke into a business on Huron Street, east of Clarke Road, where he stole property and a vehicle belonging to the business, police said. The vehicle was recovered by police three days later.

On Tuesday at around 4:30 a.m., a man broke into a business on Commissioners Road, between Andover Drive and Wonderland Road, and stole property, police said.

All thefts were caught on video enabling police to determine the same suspect was responsible.

On Tuesday morning, police arrested a man and woman on Highbury Avenue near Cheapside Street inside the vehicle reported stolen in August. A stolen licence place, and clothing worn at the previous break-ins, also was found, police said.
