Pray for sleep
The article Canada can’t sleep (Dec. 21) was a real eye-opener.
As a retired high school teacher, it was always hard to sleep the first week of each semester despite it being irrational. I find there’s no better way to fall asleep and to get a good sleep than to worship the Holy Trinity.

Organ overlooked
In his column on Gabriel Kney’s career as a pipe-organ builder, Late London organ maker’s ‘voice’ lives on (Dec. 28), Larry Cornies missed the second of Kney’s organs still in service here in London.

Lightning games great value
I wanted to give a shout-out of support of the London Lightning basketball team. Every time I attend a game, I leave reminded of what a great organization we have.
From high caliber basketball to the overall game-day experience and entertainment, I don’t think there is better value in the city. Fan engagement leaves my kids wanting to return over and over. Let’s get this arena filled.

Dog in distress, yet no action taken
A tenant in my building has a dog that barks continuously when they are not home. The tenant refuses to do anything about it. The property company has been working on it for months.
I have contacted the police and the City of London and no one cares. Some nights I don’t sleep, even when I have to get up at 5 a.m. to work. During the day, I have to turn up the volume on the TV or music to try and drown out the barking, yelping and crying.

Closed store could be homeless shelter
Having driven by the huge, empty Rona store on Wonderland Road North, I wonder why can’t the $25-million anonymous donation for London’s homeless problem be used to buy or rent this empty eyesore to house hundreds of beds for the homeless?
There are washrooms, nearby food stores and plenty of adjacent land for any future expansion.

Work tiresome
For many months there has been construction on Arbour Glen Crescent. I thought it was finished, but now it’s back.
It has taken something beautiful and now, it’s a mess. The truck noises are unsettling starting just before 7 a.m.
I can’t find any information on the city website. What is the purpose of this construction and why is no information available? How long will it go on?
