The new 48-niche columbarium crafted from Canadian-sourced granite quarried and manufactured in Ontario, is now in place next to another columbarium that was installed in 2019. The first columbarium has already reached full capacity, the Township of Georgian Bluffs said in a news release.
The columbariums provide families with an elegant alternative to traditional inground cremation interments. Each niche can accommodate two cremation urns, the release said.
The township thanked Nelson Granite Inc., Harris Transport Ltd. And Vanwyck Crane Service for their expertise and support in the delivery and installation of the columbarium.
Mount Pleasant Cemetery is located at the crest of the hill on Grey Rd. 17 just west of Grey Rd. 1, with water views of Georgian Bay and known for the daffodils that bloom across its grounds each spring.
