Man accused of kidnappings, sexual assaults arrested in London

A man accused of pretending to be a rideshare driver and allegedly sexually assaulting multiple women in the Toronto area has been arrested in London, police say.

Two of the alleged sexual assaults happened on Nov. 8 and another on Nov. 16 in Brampton and involved a man driving a sedan and claiming to be a rideshare driver, Peel regional police said.

The complainants were driven to locations in Brampton or Vaughan and sexually assaulted by a man who spoke Punjabi, police said.

Peel regional police arrested a Brampton man, 22, in London in the area of Oxford Street East on Nov. 21, a London police spokesperson said Wednesday.

The man is charged with three counts of kidnapping, sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, sexual assault by strangulation, robbery and two counts of uttering threats.

Investigators believe there may be more complainants and encouraged them to contact the special victims unit at 905-453-2121, extension 3460, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Teen charged after vehicle flips in crash

A teenager is charged after a vehicle flipped in a crash and landed on railway tracks, police say.

Ontario Provincial Police in Huron County say they received a report on Nov. 23 at about 6:30 p.m. about a collision on Maitland Road North in Goderich. OPP officers, Goderich firefighters and Huron County paramedics responded to the scene, police said, where they found a vehicle on its roof.

Two people in the vehicle had exited by the time emergency crews arrived, police said, adding neither was injured.

A 17-year-old from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township is charged with dangerous driving and is scheduled to appear in Goderich court on Jan. 2.

Man charged with impaired driving

A man is charged with impaired driving after Ontario Provincial Police stopped a vehicle in Tillsonburg on Tuesday night.

Oxford OPP say it was about 9 p.m. on Tuesday when officers stopped a driver on Bidwell Street in Tillsonburg.

Following an investigation, police say a 35-year-old man from Tillsonburg is charged with dangerous driving, impaired driving, driving with more than 80 millilitres of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood and driving without a licence.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Woodstock court on Jan. 7.
