The first snowfall of the season has landed in the London region.
In the beachside town of Port Burwell, located about 70 kilometres southeast of London on the shores of Lake Erie, residents awoke on Thursday to a relatively early glimpse of winter after an overnight dumping of snow. Photos show a significant layer on lawns and outdoor furniture.
“I’m glad I got the snow tires on the car this week,” one resident wrote on social media.

It appears unlikely to last long. Environment Canada was calling for a daytime high of 3 C on Thursday in Port Burwell, with rain possibly rolling in. Similar weather was expected Friday before the temperature rises to 8 C on Saturday, the national weather agency said.
The grey November weather is also expected to continue in London for the next several days. Environment Canada is calling for daytime highs of 7 C from Friday to Sunday with rain each day. It’ll be much the same to start the work week on Monday, per their forecast.
It’s been a remarkably mild fall across the London region but The Weather Network reported on Tuesday that that may be ending across southern Ontario, with expectations that temperatures could be colder than normal as the calendar flips to December next weekend and more snow starts falling.
