Two suspects sought in probe of vehicle fire in London

London police are asking for the public’s help as they try to identify two suspects at the scene of a vehicle fire early Friday.

Before the fire near Commissioners Road and Highland Heights that broke out around 12:40 a.m., video surveillance showed two people in a vehicle pull into a driveway of a residence, leave the vehicle, return to it and drive away.

A vehicle at a residence was set on fire, police said. The blaze was extinguished by the London fire department.

Police have released photos of two suspects and the vehicle they were in.

One suspect was wearing a blue sweater with white details on the shoulders and chest, dark pants and a blue medical mask. He was carrying a small red gas can, police said.

The second person was wearing camouflage, dark-coloured clothing, and a blue medical mask.

The vehicle was as an early model dark blue Buick Rendezvous with dark grey trim and a handicap sign on the passenger side of the windshield, police said.

Members of the public who live or may have been in the Commissioners Road and Highland Heights area between 11:30 p.m. and 12:45 a.m. with dash-cam, residential or business video surveillance are asked to contact London police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477.

Crash injures truck driver, closes Highway 401

A truck driver suffered serious injuries in a crash Friday morning on Highway 401 west of London, Oxford OPP said.

The truck crashed in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Blandford Road at about 11 a.m., police said.

The driver who was alone in vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, OPP said.

All three westbound lanes were closed for several hours.

People with information that may help with the investigation including dash cam footage are asked to contact Oxford OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
