Drivers charged with stunt driving, an offence under the Highway Traffic Act, get an automatic 30-day licence suspension and have their vehicle impounded for two weeks. If convicted, they face a maximum fine of $10,000, up to six months in jail and a licence suspension of up to one year.
The head of the OPP’s traffic safety division in the west region said keeping roads safe is a shared responsibility.
“Let’s continue to put public safety first by saying no to speeding, stunt driving, and unsafe vehicle modifications.” Insp. Mike McConnell said in a statement.
Police also dished out 597 speeding tickets, 76 other traffic-related tickets and charged 86 motorists of modified vehicles during the week-long campaign, the OPP said.

“When they got there the fire was seen coming from the roof and from the outside. They were able to get a quick knockdown. Water was applied, there was a crew inside. The homeowner and his dog were outside,” he said.
There were no injuries. Melanson estimated the fire caused about $250,000 in damage. About 30 firefighters, from Southampton and Port Elgin fire stations, responded to alarm.
Firefighters left the scene about 4 a.m. but returned to help with the ongoing fire investigation around 2 p.m.
