An elderly person riding a mobility scooter was killed in a crash involving an SUV on Monday in Goderich, police say.
It was about 10:30 a.m. on Monday when Ontario Provincial Police in Huron County say officers were called along with paramedics and firefighters to the collision at Blake Street East and Gibbons Street in Goderich, a town of about 8,000 near the Lake Huron coastline.

Police say the crash involved an SUV and a mobility scooter.
Emergency crews found the person operating the scooter “seriously injured” at the scene, police said, adding they were taken to hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
Police identified the victim as a 91-year-old resident of Goderich. Their name wasn’t made public.
Sections of Blake Street and Gibbons Street were expected to be closed for several hours for the investigation, police said. The cause of the crash remained under investigation, police said.
One person killed in Port Dover motorcycle crash
One person died at the scene and two others were transported to hospital after a five-vehicle crash near Port Dover late Saturday afternoon.
The collision involving three motorcycles, a pickup truck and an SUV occurred at Blueline Road and Highway 6 Port Dover at just before 5 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police said.
A 33-year-old Sudbury resident, who was a passenger on one of the motorcycles, died at the scene, police said. The driver of that motorcycle suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital.
The driver of a second motorcycle suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
Four other people whose vehicles were involved were not injured.
Highway 6 was closed between Pheasant Trail/Blue Lake Avenue and Port Ryerse Road for several hours on Saturday night, police said.
