Stratford man charged with attempted murder in home attack

A Stratford man is charged with attempted murder after an armed attack near Goderich two months ago, provincial police say.

Police responded to a dispute involving several people at a home in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, a township in Huron County, about 11:30 p.m. June 25, Ontario Provincial Police in Huron County said on Tuesday.

Investigators determined a victim was attacked with unspecified “weapons” before officers arrived, police said.

Austin Crawley, 21, of Stratford, is charged with attempted murder and two counts of failing to comply with a release order, police said. He was set to appear in a Goderich court on Tuesday.

Man charged after standoff near St. Thomas: Police

A West Elgin man faces multiple charges following a standoff southwest of St. Thomas, police say.

Ontario Provincial Police in Elgin County say officers responded on Monday at about 12:20 p.m. to a disturbance at a home on Anne Street in West Elgin, where police warned the public that there would be a heavy police presence in the area, including tactical officers and police dogs. CTV London is reporting the incident was at a home in the community of West Lorne.

A man was arrested without incident at about 2:45 p.m., police said.

A West Elgin man, 33, is charged with uttering threats to damage property, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failure to comply with a probation order, police say.
