Man charged after pickup slams into home: OPP

An Ottawa-area resident was charged after a pickup truck slammed into a home northeast of Grand Bend, provincial police say.

Emergency crews were called to Goshen Street in Zurich, in Bluewater municipality, after a pickup left the road and struck a house about 5:20 p.m. Monday, Huron OPP said Tuesday.

The crash caused extensive damage, but nobody was hurt, police said.

Investigators released a photo showing a white pickup with its front end lodged in a two-storey home, which was surrounded with yellow police tape.

A 42-year-old resident of the Ottawa suburb of Greely faces a Highway Traffic Act charge of careless driving, police said.

London man found dead in Dresden pool: police

Foul play is not suspected after a London man was found dead in a backyard pool in Dresden, Chatham-Kent police say.

Emergency crews responded to reports of an unresponsive man in a swimming pool on Cross Street about 6 p.m. Sunday, police said..

Despite first responders’ efforts, a 20-year-old London man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

“Chatham-Kent police . . . send our deepest condolences to the man’s family and friends during this difficult time,” police said.

Woman charged in Windsor attack

A 54-year-woman faces charges after allegedly attacking a person with an edged weapon.

Windsor police say shortly before 6 p.m. on Sunday, a woman was admitted to Windsor Regional Hospital with a head injury. Responding officers learned the victim had been struck in the head with an edged weapon following an argument with a person at a home in the 1900 block of Dominion Boulevard.
