Windsor-area police squad nabs repeat offender
Another repeat offender caught violating the terms of his release has been arrested by the recently established team created by the Windsor and LaSalle police to monitor high-risk individuals on bail.
Police say the suspect, a 33-year-old male alleged to have violated the terms of his release, was granted bail in May on multiple charges yet to be dealt with by the courts, including assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, theft of a motor vehicle, driving dangerously, fleeing from a police officer, and breach of probation.
His bail conditions required GPS monitoring and prohibited him from driving a motor vehicle.
In a statement, Windsor police said compliance officers discovered the suspect violating his bail conditions after conducting several checks.
The suspect was arrested at a home in Kingsville on Tuesday by Windsor police officers working alongside the Ontario Provincial Police-led Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad and the OPP emergency response team.
The suspect now faces an additional five charges of failure to comply with a release order, as well as two counts of driving while under suspension.
