When officers arrived, two people were found with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. One person was transported to hospital and is expected to recover, but the other was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

The two were known to one another, police said.

Authorities provided no further detail about the person who died and the one injured, including ages and gender.

Police said there’s no risk to the public, implying there is not a suspected shooter on the lam, and said a firearm had been recovered.

The investigation continues, with Woodstock police asking anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to contact investigators at 519 537-2323 or Crime Stoppers, where tips can be anonymously left, at 1-800-222-8477.

The Woodstock shooting caps a deadly week for authorities in the wider London area.

A 13-year-old boy is charged with first-degree murder in the death of another youth in the Holmesville area of Huron County earlier this week, and police in St. Thomas are running a homicide investigation after a woman found with life-threatening injuries unrelated to a suspected arson, also being investigated, died in hospital.
