Patriotic Londoners turned downtown’s Dundas Place into a sea of red on Monday during Canada Day celebrations. “It’s a great day to come together as friends, families as we reflect on what it means to be Canadian,” said NDP MPP Terence Kernaghan, who represents London North Centre. “I think back to my family when they first came to Canada, a land of promise, a land of hope, and it is still that way.” Photos by LFP’s Dale Carruthers:

A few blocks away from Dundas Place, visitors at Eldon House enjoyed music, dancing and self-guided tours of London’s oldest home.
Canada Day celebrations at Harris Park were set to begin at 7 p.m. with live music, food trucks and a fireworks show closing the night.
The following streets were to be closed from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m:
- Queens Avenue from Ridout Street to Riverside Drive and Wharncliffe Road
- Ridout Street from Fullarton Street to King Street
- Thames Street from Dundas Street to Harris Park Gate
Queens Bridge and Kensington Bridge were to be closed to vehicles, but pedestrians would still be allowed to use the bridge up until 9 p.m. The West London Dykes also were to be closed near Labatt Park.
