PHOTOS: Elementary school robotic competition

Fanshawe College’s Innovation Village hosted a robotic competition for elementary school pupils in the Thames Valley District school board on Wednesday. The pupils, in teams of 10, had six weeks to learn to program a Lego kit robot to perform on a grid of buildings and streets to collect cars, garbage and blue boxes among other tasks for a score. Neil Casey, the math co-ordinator for the school board, says being part of the program that integrates robotics with science, technology and math learning helps pupils engage, reduce anxiety and learn to collaborate.
