For the second time this week, a Thames Valley public school has temporarily closed its doors.
Late Thursday evening, the school board announced C.C. Carrothers Public School in London will not be open for in-person learning on Friday due to operational concerns.
“Effective Friday, January 28, 2022, students at C.C. Carrothers Public School will temporarily transition from in-person to remote learning until returning to school in-person on Wednesday, February 2, 2022,” a statement from the TVDSB read.
The closure at C.C. Carrothers marks the second school in London that has shutdown due to COVID-19-related staffing issues. On Monday, the board confirmed Princess Elizabeth Public School will remained closed until the following Monday.
Students returned to classrooms less than two weeks ago after starting the first few weeks of the new year learning virtually.
Prior to the holidays, the TVDSB reported all COVID-19 cases and outbreaks daily however, over the break the province nixed having school boards report daily numbers and instead opted to post absenteeism rates online.
According to the province’s website, a total of seven schools out of over 4,800 across Ontario are closed as of Thursday morning.
