Man faces 22 charges after three vehicles were reported stolen

A North Perth man faces a long list of charges after a series of events earlier in the week.

It started with the report of a stolen car in Listowel on January 24th. The car was stolen from a Victoria Avenue North property.

When Huron OPP spotted the stolen vehicle on Airport Line, the officer attempted to stop it but the driver sped off.

A short time later, the car was located abandoned in a ditch on Tipperary Line.

At that point, police received a report about a stolen pickup truck from a nearby business and that ended up in a crash at an intersection with another pickup.

A suspect fled that scene on foot and then broke into a home, and stole another vehicle after threatening the victim and taking the keys.

But the suspect didn’t get far after crashing the SUV into a stone fence.

At that point police say the accused took off on foot and police contained the scene and OPP Canine along with OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) members conducted a search of the area.

Ultimately, the accused was located and arrested hiding out in a travel trailer located on Parr Line.

Benjamin Poynton, 27, of North Perth has been charged with:
