Several chickens and a goat were killed in a Southwestern Ontario barn fire, officials say.
It was just before 6 a.m. on Monday when firefighters from Port Rowan, St. Williams, Langton and Delhi were called to a barn fire on Highway 24 West near Forestry Farm Road in Walsingham – a rural community in Norfolk County, located southwest of Simcoe.
The barn was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at the scene, officials said. No people were injured but several animals were killed in the fire, with damage estimated at $50,000.

The cause of the fire was undetermined, but it was not considered suspicious, said Cory Armstrong-Smith, fire prevention officer for Norfolk County.
Norfolk firefighters have responded to several fires in rural areas of Norfolk County over the past few months. Ontario Provincial Police are investigating seven fires that they say have been deemed suspicious and they’ve asked the public for help finding the person responsible. The seven suspicious fires were:
- Nov. 12, 10:38 p.m., Windham East Quarter Line, Simcoe
- Nov. 13, 1:03 a.m., Windham Road 13, Simcoe
- Nov. 26, 10:19 p.m., Fourteenth Street West, Simcoe
- Nov. 27, 12:03 a.m., 10th Concession Road, Langton
- Dec. 11, 4:09 a.m., Highway 24 near Concession 11, Townsend
- Dec. 19, 11:40 p.m., Concession 10 Townsend, Waterford
- Dec. 27, 12:33 a.m., St. John’s Road West, Simcoe
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122. Residents living near any of those properties are asked to check their own surveillance footage for anything that may help police.
Trio of teens charged after man wakes up to masked intruders

Three teens are charged after three people broke into a home in London’s west end on Monday, police say.
A man woke up to find three people wearing masks inside his home in the 1400 block of Beaverbrook Avenue, west of Wonderland Road, on Monday around 2:30 a.m., police said.
One of the three had a knife, police said, adding the trio ran away.
A 19-year-old man, a 14-year-old female, and a 16-year-old male, all from London, are each charged with breaking and entering. The 16-year-old male additionally is charged with disguise with intent and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
The 19-year-old male also is charged with disguise with intent and failing to comply with an undertaking.
The adult male will not be named to protect the identity of the youths, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, police said. All three accused were expected to appear in London court Monday.
