London man, 27, charged with manslaughter after prior police raid

A 27-year-old London man has been charged with manslaughter following a drug-related investigation in West Elgin, Ontario Provincial Police said on Friday.

The accused taken into custody Aug. 23 on previous charges, police said.

The investigation began that same day after a search of a home in West Elgin by officers from the OPP’s Elgin-Middlesex community street crime unit, the Elgin County OPP’s crime unit and the Western region OPP tactics/rescue and emergency response teams.

The man was charged in August with trafficking cocaine. A publication ban was imposed at the same time that extends to this latest charge, police said.

Edgar Marshall has been “further charged” with manslaughter, police said Friday.

The investigation was continuing with help from the OPP’s forensic identification unit and the coroner’s office, police said.

Police seek witnesses after Chatham collision

Chatham-Kent police want to hear from anyone who witnessed a multi-vehicle crash at a busy intersection on Chatham’s eastern edge Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the three-vehicle crash at Grand Avenue West and Communications Road about 3 p.m., police said.

A vehicle heading east on Grand Avenue collided with a vehicle waiting to turn left, then crossed the intersection and collided with a westbound vehicle waiting at the red light, police said.

One driver was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment, police said.

The vehicle was towed and secured for further investigation, police added.
