A man and a woman from the other vehicle remained in hospital on Monday. The male driver of the fleeing vehicle has life-threatening injuries.

Three investigators and two forensic investigators are assigned to the case, with one subject official designated, the SIU said.

Ontario Provincial Police notified the SIU because of the police interaction with the initial vehicle.

The SIU is an independent agency that probes all cases of serious injury, death and allegations of sexual assault involving police officers provincewide.

Highway 4, Richmond Street, was closed in both directions between Medway Road and Sunningdale Road for the investigation but has since reopened.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation, including video or photos, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online at https://siu.on.ca/en/appeals.php
