I had to laugh when I read the article Sherwood Forest Goodwill expanding, mall site may get residential tower (Nov. 23) in which mall owner Lee Greenwood said the rear parking lot is underused.
Has he ever tried to get a parking place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.?
I welcome more housing in this part of town, but the mall has lost many parking spots to fast food outlets in the front parking lot. It doesn’t need to lose more.

For how long?
The article Council finds $947K to save 60 winter shelter beds (Nov. 22) is missing important information.
A total of $947,000 for 60 winter shelter beds is $15,783 a bed. For what length of time will this money fund those 60 beds? I understand staffing, security, food and other supports are necessary, and these costs are the major component of the project, but how much are the costs?
My wife and I support charities (Ark Aid, Unity Project, Anova and My Sisters’ Place are four) as much as we are able. All run great programs to help the disadvantaged, abused and homeless. All struggle for enough funds to be effective.
Please provide more details in future articles. The $947,000, plus the additional $205,000, is lot of money. What is included and for how long?

System fails dog
For the last two months, there is a dog that barks all day and sometimes at night when its owner is away. I have called the City of London, the property management company, the London police and an animal rescue group. Nothing has been done.
I feel sorry for the dog. It is left alone for long periods of time and clearly is in distress. So far, no one has gotten to the point of taking matters into their own hands, which is surprising considering the number of complaints from tenants. From what I have been told, this is becoming a legal matter and will probably take quite a long time.

Until then, the rest of the people in this building are to put up with it. What is wrong with this picture? If it was a child crying all day, rest assured this would have been dealt with swiftly.

Poor decision
Congratulations to the Canadian Union of Postal Workers. Your employer, Canada Post, has lost billions during the last several years. Many of the services you provide have become obsolete.
You have concluded that the best course of action in order to have your insolvent employer meet your unrealistic demands is to strike during the peak selling season for your dwindling customer base.
Many of the businesses you have pushed to your competitors will never return. The rest of us will move to paperless billing.

Vote buying
What politicians will do with taxpayers’ money to help them win votes prior to a possible election, eh?
