Person forced into vehicle, assaulted, driven against their will: Police

A Tillsonburg resident is facing multiple charges after a person was forced into a vehicle, assaulted and driven against their will in St. Thomas, police say.

According to a St. Thomas police news release, a 911 call was received just after 4:30 a.m. on Thursday regarding an individual forced into a vehicle and assaulted.

Through an investigation undertaken by officers, St. Thomas police learned an argument had occurred between a group of people known to each other, the statement read. The argument escalated, resulting in a victim being driven away from an address against their will, police stated.

Officers fouond the suspect vehicle and the victim a short distance away, police said, after which paramedics were called to “attend and treat the victim for injuries to their face” while officers continued investigating, police said.

A 37-year-old from Tillsonburg is facing charges of assault, robbery with theft, disobeying a court order, and forcible confinement, police said. The person facing charges was taken to St. Thomas police headquarters where they were processed to attend court and remanded into custody, police said.

Windsor police thwart break-in

Windsor police say officers caught a suspect in the midst of a commercial break-and-enter on the city’s east side.

Officers arrived shortly at 6 a.m. Wednesday at a business in the 3100 block of Tecumseh Road East, police said, noting officers spotted a person attempting to leave on foot. After a brief chase, they caught and arrested the man, police said.

The business sustained damage from a broken window, police said, adding they recovered stolen gift cards, which were returned to the business.

A 40-year-old man has been charged with break and enter and possession of break-and-enter tools.
