Valuable asset

The recent adverse publicity related to London Health Sciences Centre does not diminish the value of the institution to our community.

I recently had a knee replacement procedure at University Hospital. I was impressed by the professionalism and compassion exhibited by my caregivers. Despite the demands of their stressful environment, their delivery made my experience much less daunting.

To those who criticize our over-burdened health system, I say, be grateful for the quality of care we are afforded.

To the doctors, nurses and support staff at University Hospital, I say well done, and thank you.

Art lecture series

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall: Reflections on artists’ self-portraits, is a four-part lecture series by art historian Sonia Halpern running Mondays, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. until Dec. 2 at ArtVenture Art Studio, 1438 Aldersbrook Rd.

These lectures explore the motives that drive artists to paint their self-portraits and demonstrate how self-portraits has served highly useful purposes through time.
