Two people dead after collision north of Stratford: Police

STRATFORD – Two people died following a multi-vehicle crash near the community of Millbank, northeast of Stratford, on Wednesday afternoon.

Perth County Ontario Provincial Police, paramedics and the Perth East Fire Department responded just before 3:30 p.m. on Perth Road 121, at the intersection of Line 67, after a passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle collided.

Two occupants of the passenger vehicle, a 75-year-old and 76-year-old, both from Woolwich, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the commercial vehicle was taken to hospital with what police deemed injuries that weren’t life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.

The area of Perth Road 121 between Perth Line 72 and Line 67 was closed for the protection of emergency crews amid the investigation, likely for a number of hours, police said.

Man charged in Windsor shooting

Windsor police have arrested a 50-year-old man on 16 charges, including attempted murder, after a shooting in a South Windsor neighbourhood on Sunday.

Officers were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Marlin Avenue shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 in response to reports of an man armed with a gun.

Arriving at the scene, police say officers discovered “extensive damage” to the house and multiple vehicles in the area.

Police say an investigation determined that a man had driven a van to the property and “intentionally rammed into” several parked vehicles.

Police say the man then allegedly fired multiple shots toward the home before fleeing the scene.

Windsor police said a female resident was present during the incident, but didn’t sustain any injuries.

Officers located the suspect’s vehicle engulfed in flames in the 6000 block of Baseline Road in the Town of Tecumseh, police said.

Shortly after, the suspect was taken into custody after a brief pursuit on foot.

The accused faces more than a dozen charges including attempted murder.
