A trio faces multiple drug-related charges after London police say officers seized roughly $170,000 worth of drugs, including fentanyl, along with cash, a loaded firearm and ammunition.

London police say it was shortly after 11 p.m. on Monday when officers found a wanted man leaving a home in the southwest end of the city in a vehicle. He was arrested, police said.

A search yielded a loaded gun and roughly $20,000 in cash, police said.

Tuesday, police say a search was done at a home near Centre Street and Wharncliffe Road South in London. It turned up $115,360 in suspected methamphetamine, $38,172 in suspected fentanyl, $18,678 in suspected cocaine and $915 worth of hydromorphone, police said.

Fentanyl is a highly addictive synthetic opioid that experts say is up to 100 times more powerful than morphine. As little as two milligrams of it, the equivalent of four grains of salt, can kill a first-time user.

As a result of the investigation, a man, 26, a woman, 39, and another man, 37, all from London, have been jointly charged with four counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The 26-year-old man is also facing a raft of other charges including unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition and two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

All three accused remained in custody and were scheduled to next appear in London court on Friday in relation to the charges, police said.
