OHL reporter Ryan Pyette is taking questions from fans and colleagues about what’s happening on the ice, in the general managers’ suites and in the league office throughout the season. Have a question? Put it in the comment section below or email us at lfpnewsletters@postmedia.com

Q: Jett Luchanko has been returned to the Guelph Storm by Philadelphia. Is he likely trade bait?

A: Yes but I think they’re going to wait to see. I think Guelph is pretty good this year so they’ve got to wait and see if they can build something around their goalie, Brayden Gillespie. If I was GM George Burnett I’d be looking to make a deal because the top teams are starting to emerge. It’s a tough situation for Guelph, who lost Matthew Poitras to the NHL last year. He would have been the best player in the league. Jett, what an amazing story. I think he was the youngest Flyer ever, which is pretty amazing.

Q: I’m stunned to see the Windsor Spitfires at 10-1-1 after last season. Is this thanks to new coach Greg Walters?

A: I think Greg Walters is a very good coach and he’s got all kinds of talent to work with in Windsor. They really had a terrible season last year and they couldn’t keep the puck out of the net – that can break a goalie. But Joey Costanzo survived and has a 1.89 goals against average in nine games and that’s great for him. And Liam Greentree, he’s a machine. I think they lost 13 games in a row to finish last season so obviously they’ve turned something around and I think it’s for real. It’s impressive, so maybe there’s some hope for Peterborough Petes fans.

Q: Peterborough is winless after 12 games. How bad could this get?

A: They could end up with 10 wins on the season. The problem for the Petes is the East might be stronger than the West this year, so they’re really struggling and the teams they’ll play most often are strong. But they’ve allowed 58 goals against in 12 games, and that’s not terrible. Things could improve.

Q: There are 62 OHL players on NHL draft list – who would you say will be the first one picked in June?

A: I think it’ll probably be Michael Misa. I think a team will grab him early. He might score 60 goals this year for Saginaw – he’s on pace for it so far, and I don’t think he’ll slow down. He and Porter Martone could both be Top 5 picks. They’re both fantastic players.
