Teenage suspects charged after London school break-in

Two teenage boys are facing charges after a school in south London was broken into, leaving about $2,000 in damages, London police say.

Police responded about 11 p.m. Thursday to the area of Chiddington Avenue and Compton Crescent, where the Sir George Etienne Cartier public school is located, after receiving reports from an area resident about a group of teenagers entering the building.

When police arrived at the property, the suspects fled the area, located southwest of Commissioners and Wellington roads. There, officers found a bag nearby with some tools and the ID of one of the suspects, police said.

Police later arrested the suspects near the area with the help of police dogs.

No injuries were reported, police said.

Two males, ages 14 and 15, who cannot be named under Canada’s youth justice law, are charged with breaking and entering and mischief valued at less than $5,000. They’re to appear in court on the charges Dec. 2.

Pickup tied to theft found ablaze, man charged

A man was charged after a pickup linked to a local theft was found ablaze Tuesday, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers called Sass Road in Chatham found a Dodge Ram 1500 on fire on railway tracks, police said. Investigation revealed the stolen truck was used in a theft from Walmart Tuesday.

Video from area businesses showed a man get into the truck in the parking lot and drive away with stolen property from Walmart, said police, who arrested a suspect.

A Chatham man, 48, is charged with possessing stolen property valued at more than $5,000 and possessing stolen property valued at less than $5,000, police said. He was held pending a bail hearing.
