Pedestrian killed in Southwestern Ontario crash: OPP

One person is dead after a pickup truck and a pedestrian collided outside the Southwestern Ontario town of Tillsonburg on Friday, provincial police say.

Oxford County emergency crews responded to a reported crash on Potters Road about 7:30 a.m., police said In a video statement posted to social media.

“I am sad to say that the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Const. Andrew Gamble of the Ontario Provincial Police Norfolk detachment said. “The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.”

OPP had closed Potters Road between Westtown Line and Rock Mills Road for the investigation. That is located just outside the eastern edge of Tillsonburg, a community of roughly 15,000 located about a 45-minute drive southeast of London.

No other details were included in the update.

“To anyone who is affected by today’s incident, our thoughts and prayers are certainly with you,” Gamble added.

Teens charged after east London break-in

Three London teens face charges after an east-end break-in early on Friday, city police say.

Officers responding to a reported break-in in the 1,000-block of Hamilton Road at about 2 a.m. found a damaged window and open door, London police said. Damage from the incident was estimated at $1,000, police said.

With the help of a dog team, two 15-year-olds and a 14-year-old were found and arrested in the building, police said.

The teens, who can’t be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are charged with break and enter, police said. They are scheduled to appear in London court on Oct. 7.
