A St. Thomas man is facing charges of second-degree murder charge and arson in the death of a 40-year-old woman this month, with police still looking for a second suspect.

Victoria Dill, 40, died in hospital after she was found with a gunshot wound near the scene of a fire at her apartment home at 20 Hiawatha St., in St. Thomas on July 3. Investigators later ruled the fire an arson and the death a homicide, the city’s first in eight years.

Tuesday, St. Thomas police said 30-year-old Nathan Deleemans of St. Thomas is charged with second-degree murder, arson and failing to comply with a release order.

Deleemans remains in police custody.

Police are still seeking a second suspect in the case, 21-year-old Keegan Harvey, who is wanted on charges of arson and accessory after the fact to murder. Police released a photograph of Harvey nearly a week after Dill’s death and warned the public not to approach him but to call 911 immediately if he’s seen.

Harvey is described as a five-foot-10 white man with brown hair and a sleeve tattoo on his right arm.

Residents of Dill’s building on Hiawatha Street and neighbours recalled hearing a single gunshot and later seeing a woman lying on the ground of a nearby parking lot.
