One person was taken to hospital after a collision involving two tractor-trailers on Highway 401, officials with the London Fire Department say.

The Monday afternoon crash in the eastbound lanes of the 401 near Colonel Talbot Road resulted in a fuel leak requiring the fire department’s hazardous materials squad to attend the scene, officials said.

One person had to be extricated from a truck and taken to hospital, officials said. The extent of their injuries wasn’t made clear.

One person hurt in crash involving e-bike

One person is in hospital with serious injuries after a collision involving a vehicle and an e-bike in the Windsor-area community of Belle River.

Ontario Provincial Police in Essex County responded to the collision on County Road 22 between Beechwood Drive and Willowwood Drive in Belle River just before 11 p.m. on Saturday, police said.

The rider of the e-bike was transported to hospital with serious injuries following the collision, police said.

A section of County Road 22 was closed to traffic for the investigation but reopened shortly before 2 a.m., police said. No further details were released over the weekend.

Saturday’s crash is the region’s third such incident in recent weeks involving a cyclist being struck by a vehicle.

A cyclist was fatally struck in Windsor on Lauzon Road and Edgar Street on July 2. Police said that a vehicle was travelling northbound on Lauzon Road when it collided with a cyclist travelling westb from Edgar Street to Lauzon.

The cyclist was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.
