A London man is in custody and charged with harassment after two school-aged girls were followed, police say.
It was about 2:30 p.m. on June 16 when police say they were called to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Southcrest Drive and Base Line Road West, a residential area near London’s Kensal Park neighbourhood. A man driving a red Mitsubishi sport utility vehicle was watching and following a school-aged girl riding a bike through the neighbourhood, police said.

Officers searched the area and located the vehicle, police said. The investigation was re-assigned to the London police major crimes unit, police said.
Several days later, at about 8 p.m. on June 20 police say a man matching the same description and driving a red Mitsubishi SUV in the area of Andover Drive and Viscount Road – in the city’s Westmount neighbourhood – was watching and following a second school-aged girl riding a scooter.
A man was arrested on June 21, police say, in the area near Highview Avenue East and Wharncliffe Road South, police said.
A 48-year-old man, Johannes Wilhelmus Laning, is charged with two counts of criminal harassment by watching or besetting and two counts of breach of probation.
He remained in custody and was scheduled to be in a London court Tuesday. Investigators believe there may be additional complainants and are asking people to contact its major crime section at 519-661-6570 if they have any information, or if they had similar dealings.
Life-threatening injuries in London crash
One person was sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash Tuesday morning at a busy south London intersection, police say.
Officers shut down the Wellington-Commissioners roads intersection after the crash shortly after 10 a.m. The London police traffic management unit was investigating and asking drivers to avoid the area.
