A 33-year-old St. Thomas man is facing a sexual assault charge after a person was sexually assaulted while sleeping outdoors.
St. Thomas police say the unidentified complainant was asleep in an open shed near the city’s downtown core, seeking shelter from the cold, when the sexual assault took place.
The complainant and the accused were known to each other but have never been involved in an intimate relationship, police said in a statement on Sunday.

Officers later located the accused and arrested him without incident, police said.
The accused was taken to St. Thomas police headquarters pending a court appearance, police said.
One dead in crash: OPP
One person is dead after a two-vehicle collision involving transport truck southwest of London on Friday evening, provincial police say.
Oneida police, Middlesex OPP, paramedics and firefighters responded to the crash involving a passenger vehicle and a transport truck at Melbourne Road near Jubilee Road, near Melbourne in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex, at about 5:45 p.m. Friday, OPP said in a news release on Sunday.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 29-year-old from Iona Station, was rushed to an area hospital where they were later pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the transport truck, a 29-year-old from London, sustained minor injuries, police said.
The identity of the deceased is not being released by police.
The rural intersection is controlled by a stop sign on Jubilee Road. Traffic on Melbourne Road does not stop.
