Investigators in St. Thomas are probing a suspicious death overnight in the city’s east end, police say.

In a post to social media shortly after midnight on Friday, police announced they were investigating a death they deemed suspicious on Highview Drive in the city.
Police warned of the extensive presence of officers throughout the night, but noted that there was no risk to public safety. No other details had yet been made public.

$100K damage as vehicle hits LCBO
No one was hurt and no product was lost when a vehicle crashed into the side of a Blenheim LCBO store, Chatham-Kent police say.
Emergency crews were called to the crash at the Marlborough Street store about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said. The lone female driver was unhurt.
A Chatham-Kent engineering staffer assessed the structural damages, police said. Total damages were estimated at $100,000.
Since the incident took place on private property, no charges were laid, police said
Police offer winter driving tips
Recent snows have Chatham-Kent police offering winter driving tips.
Snow on a road may be hard-packed and slippery as ice or smooth and soft, police said. Wet snow can make for slushy roads and heavy slush can build up in the wheel wells of your vehicle and affect your ability to steer.
“Remember to increase your following distance and look ahead as you drive, so you can recognize hazards with plenty of time to respond,” police said.
“Consider purchasing snow tires for your vehicle, they improve traction in the snow.”
Motorists are advised to drive according to road and weather conditions, slow down and be prepared before heading out by checking the weather forecast or highway conditions at ontario.ca/511, police said.
