Man tries to disarm officers while being arrested at bank: Police

A man causing a disturbance at a bank resisted officers as they tried to arrest him and grabbed at their equipment, London police said.

Police responded at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to bank on Hyde Park Road south of Fanshawe Park Road where a man was causing a disturbance.

Officers located a suspect in the vestibule of the bank and asked him to leave. He threw an object at the officers, police said.

When officers told the man he was under arrest for assaulting police, he resisted them and tried to disarm them, police said. More officers went sent to the bank and the man was arrested. No injuries were reported.

Officers searched the man and found identification that wasn’t his, police said.

A 38-year-old London man is charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer, two counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, two counts of disarming a peace officer, resisting arrest and identity theft.

The accused remains in custody and appeared in London court Wednesday.

Driver hit with coffee, threatened with knife by pedestrian

A pedestrian who was bumped by a vehicle while walking on the road threw coffee at a driver and threatened him with a knife, London police said.

The male pedestrian bumped into a vehicle in the area of Wharncliffe Road and Oxford Street at about 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, London police said.

When the driver of the vehicle tried to talk to the pedestrian, he “threw a coffee at the driver, striking both him and the vehicle,” police said.

The man pulled a knife and threatened the driver before leaving the area on a city bus.

A suspect was arrested a short distance away and a knife was seized when he was searched, police said.

A 64-year-old London man is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.

The accused is scheduled to appear in London court on Jan.15.
