Chatham-Kent man charged after child porn shared online

A man faces child porn charges after child sexual abuse material was shared on social media, Chatham-Kent police say.

The internet child exploitation (ICE) unit received information in November from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a local man was sharing child sexual abuse material on the social media app Snapchat, police said.

On Nov. 27, officers with a warrant searched a Blenheim home and seized several electronic devices, police said.

“Through analysis of devices seized from the residence, police believe that the man was communicating with several child victims via social media applications including Snapchat, Facebook Messenger and Discord,” police said.

On Dec. 3, a Chatham-Kent man, 28, was charged with possessing, accessing and making available child porn and luring a person under 18, police said. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing, police said.
