Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating a fatal crash north of London involving a vehicle officers had attempted to pull over, the provincewide agency said Friday.

A 35-year-old man died and two people were injured after the two-vehicle crash Nov. 30 on Richmond Street in Arva. An officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a driving-related offence on Richmond Street, near Medway Road, the Special Investigations Unit said in a statement issued on Friday.

The vehicle drove off, the SIU said. It then collided with another vehicle on Richmond Street/Highway 4 near Croydon Drive, the SIU said. The collision happened just before 11 p.m.
A man and a woman from the second vehicle were taken to hospital, the extent of their injuries not made public.
The male driver of the fleeing vehicle died of his injuries on Wednesday, the SIU said. Ontario Provincial Police notified the SIU because of the police interaction before the collision.
Three investigators and two forensic investigators are assigned to the case, with one subject official designated, the SIU said.
