Nidhua Muktadir, 20, was last seen in the area of Hawk Cliff Road and Dexter Line in Central Elgin – about five kilometres northeast of the popular beach town Port Stanley – on Tuesday, and reported missing a day later, London police said.

On Thursday, Elgin OPP notified the public there would be an increased police presence in the same area Muktadir was last spotted.
Though the area is about 40 kilometres south of London, London police were searching the Central Elgin area because Muktadir was reported missing from London, Const. Matt Dawson told The Free Press by email.
“OPP are assisting us with the search as the information suggested the missing person was last seen in their jurisdiction,” Dawson said.
Thursday near noon, a lone OPP police cruiser blocked off Hawk Cliff Road at Dexter Line. Some police activity could be seen further up Hawk Cliff Road, but it’s unclear how many officers from the two police forces were involved in the investigation.
Although the Southwestern Ontario region has been under a weather advisory, weather conditions were fair except for some blowing snow and the temperature was –3 C at about noon Thursday.
There is a forested area called Hawk Cliff woods near where Muktadir was last seen. The woods cover nearly 95 hectares (230 acres), the Thames Talbot Land Trust’s website says.

Hawk Cliff Road ends at Hawk Cliff, a steep cliff overlooking Lake Erie more than a kilometre from where the police cruiser had blocked the road.
The site is popular with bird watchers and is a prime observation point for viewing more than 20 birds of prey, the land trust’s website says.
Muktadir was wearing a purple hooded sweater, black jacket, pink and white scarf and white running shoes, and carrying a white back pack when she was last seen Dec. 3., London police said.
Police continue to seek the public’s assistance locating Muktadir and are asking anyone with information to contact London police at 519-661-5670.
