Senior facing drug charges after $51K in controlled substances seized

An Oxford County senior faces a slew of drug-related charges after police seized an estimated $51,000 in controlled substances during a traffic stop in Ingersoll.

Oxford OPP initiated a traffic stop on Culloden Road on Nov. 27 around 7 p.m. and seized controlled substances with an estimated street value of $51,000, police said.

A 66-year-old man from South-West Oxford faces numerous charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of more than 30 grams of dried cannabis in a public place, possession of Illicit cannabis, and possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling.

The accused was kept in custody and was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on a later date, police said, adding that the investigation was ongoing. Anyone with information was asked to contact Oxford OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Gun, drugs seized in Tillsonburg: Ontario Provincial Police

A gun and illegal drugs worth $10,000 were seized in Tillsonburg and a Brampton man arrested following an Ontario Provincial Police investigation, police say.

It was about 9 a.m. on Nov. 29 when police say Oxford OPP officers arrested a man on Lisgar Avenue. Businesses and residents nearby were told to remain inside for a brief period during the investigation, police said, adding no one was injured.

A 19-year-old man is facing a raft of charges including careless storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm and drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in Woodstock court at a later date.
