DEVILETTES TRIO: Three Devilettes grads will be part of Hockey Canada’s 23-player roster competing at the Women’s Euro Hockey Tour Dec. 11-15 at Tempere, Finland.

London forward Emmalee Pais (Colgate), Jocelyn Amos of Ailsa Craig (Ohio State) and defender Nicole Gosling (Clarkson) will help lead Canada into the six-team tournament starting with preliminary-round games against Sweden and Czechia.

“The Women’s Euro Hockey Tour will give our staff a unique opportunity to assess our development athletes in international competition,” Cherie Piper, the Hockey Canada senior manager of scouting and player development, said.

Amos and Pais, both in their sophomore seasons, are among the NCAA’s leading scorers. Amos has 12 goals and 22 points in 19 games with the defending champion Buckeyes while Pais has seven goals and 19 points in 18 games with the Raiders.

OPENER DELAYED: The London Lightning’s home opener scheduled for Thursday against Newfoundland and two more games slated for Nov. 29 and Dec. 3 were postponed due to what the team called “unforeseen circumstances” related to the ticketing process.

The Basketball Super League commissioner is confident the Bolts will be able to fulfill its schedule of 34 regular-season games with 20 of those being held at Canada Life Place.

“It will all work out,” David Magley said. “It may not be with the exact opponents. With Newfoundland (originally scheduled to visit Thursday and Friday), the travel is crazy and they can only come east so many times. The models have to be made around making money. We have enough teams, we’ll figure it out. This will be just a blip on the screen.”

The BSL already altered its schedule at the last minute after the Montreal Toundra backed out this fall. The hoops league tipped off nearly two months earlier than last year and hopes the eight-team will expand to 12 by next season.

London beat Sudbury 123-119 in its season opener on the road last weekend. The team will now play its first home game Sunday, Dec. 8 against Windsor at 2 p.m.

DAYS OF DELAWARE: The nine-stop APC United Late Models racing series will return to Delaware Speedway on Saturday June 28 and be back to crown its champion in the finale Saturday Sept. 27.

The first race will be at Sunset Speedway at Innisfil on May 17. Milverton’s Kyle Steckly is the defending point champion after winning four times last season, including the early Delaware stop.

Londoner Connor Pritiko won the Delaware finale to close out a memorable campaign. The 2025 season will mark the APC tour’s 11th year of competition.
