A St. Thomas woman is charged with assault over a clash police say involved two people attending the city’s Santa Claus parade and a disagreement over one family’s view being blocked.
A 62-year-old from St. Thomas was arrested at the annual parade on Saturday evening, St. Thomas police said in a news release Sunday.
Police say a dispute erupted between a woman and another spectator over a family’s view being obstructed. The woman struck the victim in the face, knocking them to the ground, St. Thomas police said.

Police were called and the suspect was arrested. The woman, whose name police didn’t make public, was taken to police headquarters and released with a future court date, St. Thomas police said.
Three hurt in Brantford-area crash
One person was airlifted to hospital, and two others were injured, after a two-car crash south of Brantford Saturday afternoon, provincial police said.
Police and emergency services, including Ornge air ambulance, were called to a crash involving an SUV and pickup truck at Villa Nova Road and Concession 2 Townsend at about at 12:38 p.m. Saturday, Norfolk County OPP said in a news release Sunday.
Two people in the SUV were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, OPP said. The driver of the pickup truck was airlifted to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Villa Nova Road and Concession 2 Townsend, a rural crossing that is controlled by a stop sign on Concession 2 Townsend, were closed for about six hours for the police investigation.
Man charged with assault on child
A man has been charged with one count of assault after a child reported abuse at school, St. Thomas police say.

Police say an 11-year-old child reported at school on Friday morning that they had been assaulted by their father the night before. The unidentified child sustained minor injuries, St. Thomas police said in a news release Saturday.
Family and Children Services were contacted and informed police of the incident. The department’s criminal investigations branch took over the investigation, police said.
The child’s father, whose identity has not been released, was arrested and charged with one count of assault.
He was released on an undertaking with conditions to protect the child, St. Thomas police said.
