A man accused of firing a gun at a downtown London strip club pleaded guilty Thursday to assaulting an employee at the bar.
Kwabena Andrew Anhwere, 42, pleaded guilty to assaulting a female employee at Solid Gold on April 29 and was sentenced to 30 days in jail, the equivalent of 20 days spent in pre-trail custody, and given 18 months probation.
Several other gun-related charges against Anhwere, who remains in custody, were sent to the Ontario Superior Court.

An agreed statement of facts was read into the record describing the events leading up to the assault on the staff member at the Dundas Street bar, one of only two strip clubs remaining in the city.
Anhwere, who was known by several workers at the strip club, was at the bar when he approached an employee and put his hand near her crotch, prompting her to hit his hand away, court heard.
Anhwere struck her before he was kicked out of the bar, court heard.
“My client was celebrating his birthday on this night. On this night, he was quite intoxicated. It obviously doesn’t provide an excuse or any kind of defence, but lots of things were happening that night and, unfortunately, my client reacted poorly,” defence lawyer Aaron Prevost said.
OPP shut down illegal cannabis storefront
An illegal cannabis storefront in Leamington has been shut down by police and a Chatham woman faces numerous charges.
On Nov. 6, officers with the Essex County OPP community street crime unit and the OPP-led provincial joint forces cannabis enforcement team searched Island Fire Cannabis in Leamington.
Police said they seized quantities of illegal dried cannabis and other illegal cannabis products, including edibles, shatter and vape cartridges, with an estimated value of $13,500.
A 39-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, possession of illicit cannabis and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
