Man faces multiple charges, including spousal assault, after crash: OPP

A Middlesex County man faces nine charges, including spousal assault, after a crash sent two people to hospital, provincial police say.

Two people in a vehicle that collided with a second vehicle on Ilderton Road in Middlesex Centre at about 6 p.m. on Nov. 7 were taken to hospital with injuries not considered life threatening, Middlesex OPP said Tuesday. The driver of the second vehicle left the scene.

A suspect was arrested nearby, OPP said. Officers learned the suspect also was a suspect in an “intimate partner violence call.”

A 30-year-old Middlesex County man faces nine criminal and Highway Traffic Act counts, including spousal assault, impaired driving, failing to stop at an accident, failing to render assistance, driving unaccompanied with a G1 licence and taking a motor vehicle without consent, police said.

The man was released pending a court appearance, police said.

Man charged after person drives through crash scene

An Embro man faces charges after a person drove past a road closed sign and entered the scene of a fatal crash while police investigated.

Oxford County OPP officers were investigating a two-vehicle crash east of Thamesford on Road 68 in Zorra Township on Nov. 10 around 7:15 p.m. when a vehicle drove past the road closed sign, police said.

Officers at the scene stopped the vehicle and nobody was injured.

A 44-year-old man faces multiple charges including dangerous driving, driving while impaired, driving on a closed highway, failing to slow down and proceed with caution for an emergency vehicle, possession of more than 30 grams of dried cannabis, driving with cannabis readily available and failing to wear a seatbelt properly.
