SAULT STE. MARIE – Easton Cowan scored two goals to pace the London Knights to a 5-1 win over the Soo Greyhounds at the GFL Memorial Gardens on Wednesday night.

Cowan entered the third period with his consecutive regular-season games point streak in question, but the Toronto Maple Leafs draft choice scored twice to extend it to 47 games. His streak began on Nov. 23 of last season.

Doug Gilmour holds the OHL record, a 55-gamer that spanned from Oct.19,1982, to Feb. 27, 1983.

Cowan scored on a partial breakaway at 1:33 and doubled his goal-scoring account with a second breakaway goal at 7:33. Cowan has nine goals this season.

Justin Cloutier scored the lone goal for the Greyhounds. Charlie Schenkel turned aside 43 saves in the defeat.

Landon Sim, Oliver Bonk and Sam Dickinson also scored for the Knights. The victory extends the club’s winning streak to a season-high seven games. Dickinson leads the Knights in scoring with 19 points (eight goals and 11 assists). The Knights improved to 7-0-0 when leading after two.

Austin Elliott improved his record to 5-0, turning aside 12 shots. Elliott was the goalie of record the last time the teams met, on Nov. 1, the Knights winning 4-3.

London went 2-6 the power play. The Hounds went 0-4 with the man advantage.

The Knights outshot the Hounds 17-5 in the first period.

London assumed a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal at 4:13 of the second period. Bonk was stationed alone near the left post and tipped the puck over a prone Schenkel for his second of the season.
