The blaze was knocked down by firefighters and crews decontaminated at the scene, fire officials said. As of mid-morning on Wednesday, investigators were still at the scene of the blaze to determine the fire’s “origin, cause and circumstance.”

One person was taken to hospital by paramedics as a result of the fire, officials said, but the extent of their injuries wasn’t clear.

The fire department noted that the home’s smoke alarms were activated, noting that “smoke alarms save lives.” Fire officials didn’t provide an estimated cost of damage to the home due to the blaze.
