Man charged after gun fired inside east London building

A London man faces a slew of weapons-related charges after a resident reported hearing a gunshot in a building in the city’s east end.

A person in a residential building in the area of Mornington and Connaught avenues called 911 at about 10:35 p.m. on Friday after hearing what they believed was a gunshot, London police Monday.

Police were given a description of a male suspect seen running away from the building.

Officers found evidence a gun had been fired in a hallway and video surveillance confirmed the suspect’s description, police said.

A man was arrested a short distance from the building and a firearm was found nearby. No injuries were reported.

A 40-year-old man faces eight charges, including discharging a firearm in a reckless manner and possessing a loaded/unloaded regulated firearm.

The accused has been kept in custody and is scheduled to appear in a London court on Oct. 30, police said.

Male follows four people, threatens them

A London teen faces multiple charges after four people were threatened by a male who began following them in a business.

Two men and two women entered a business near Oxford and Richmond streets on Friday around 11 p.m., London police said Monday. A male they didn’t know followed them inside.

When the group left the business, the male put a black medical mask over his face and followed them as they went to a vehicle.

As the men and women got into the vehicle, the masked man approached them, uttered threats and pulled up his shirt, gesturing to what appeared to be a firearm in the waistband of his pants, police said

The group left, and provided a description of the man to police. Officers located the suspect in the parking lot and arrested him. He was searched and a black imitation BB gun was found.

No injuries were reported.

An 18-year-old London man has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm, wearing a disguise with intent and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
