Four London men are facing criminal charges after what police are calling a violent home invasion in the city’s south end early Thursday.

It was about 3:45 a.m. on Thursday when London police say that two men forced their way into a home in the area of Ashley Crescent and Ashley Place in the White Oaks neighbourhood.

Police say the homeowner woke up to a commotion in his bedroom and saw a man pointing a gun at him. The homeowner yelled at the men and both suspects ran from the house, police said.

After police were contacted, officers including a canine unit found the suspects along with two other men and a vehicle police say was involved in the area of Dundas Street and Maitland Street.

All four suspects were arrested and no injuries were reported, police said. A long barrel, semi-automatic BB gun was found and seized from the vehicle, police said.

The four men, 22, 29, 19, and 23 years old, face joint charges of armed robbery, occupying a vehicle with a firearm, possession of a weapon, and use of a stolen credit card. The 29-year-old man faces additional charges of breach of probation and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.

All four men are scheduled to reappear in court on Oct. 15 in relation to the charges, police said.

Pedestrian struck while using crosswalk

St. Thomas police say a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while crossing a crosswalk on Wellington Street, near Elgin Mall, on Thursday.

The pedestrian was taken to London hospital, where they were treated for a concussion and got stitches to their forehead, police said. Police laid a charge of careless driving causing bodily harm under the Highway Traffic Act.
