London police have described a suspect in an arson in Old East Village earlier this month, and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

On Sept. 5 just after 10:30 a.m., emergency crews were called to the 700-block of Dundas Street for a fire at an abandoned multi-unit building near Hewitt Street.

No one was injured, and the damage was pegged at $800,000, according to police, who also began investigating the blaze as an arson.

Now, police say their suspect is a white male between 20 and 40 years old, with a thin build, and was wearing a black hoodie with a white logo on the front, black pants, dark running shoes, and a black-and-white baseball cap. He also has a tattoo, possibly a cross, on the back of his neck behind his right ear.

Any members of the public who were in the area between 10:20 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sept. 5 with dashboard-camera or surveillance footage, or have any other information about the suspect, are asked to call London police at 519-661-5670.

Southwestern Ontario man, 79, charged with historic sexual assault

A 79-year-old man from the Windsor-area community of Lakeshore is charged with sexual assault following an investigation by Ontario Provincial Police.

Officers with the Essex County detachment investigated a report of alleged sexual assaults that occurred between 2003 and 2010, police said. No other details of the alleged assaults have been released by police.

The accused was taken into custody July 9 without incident, police said.

He has been charged with one count of sexual interference, one count of invitation to sexual touching and one count of sexual assault.

The man has been released from custody but must appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor at an undisclosed date.

Police continue to investigate, saying it is believed that there may be more complainants who’ve not yet come forward.
