London police could not be reached Friday evening to provide more details about the crash.
Shane Marchant lives near the T-intersection controlled by a stop sign on High Street. He said he did not see or hear the crash but he saw a man running from High Street out onto Commissioners to tend to a young girl.
“It sucks, because I have a young (daughter) here, and we make sure she crosses the street over at the lights,” Marchant said. “Even just somebody waving you on, as a young person, you go ‘Well, OK, I’m safe.’
“I hope she’s OK, I think she was moving around a little bit on her own,” he said.
Marchant said he’s witnessed three crashes and several near misses at the intersection in the two years he’s lived there.
Across the road from where High Street meets Commissioners is a pedestrian cut through from Torrington Crescent. The nearest pedestrian crossings for Commissioners are at Wellington Road and Ridout Street South, nearly a kilometre apart.
Five police cruisers and a London police reconstruction truck were on scene at 5 p.m. Small cones were laid out on the road where High Street meets Commissioners, behind a silver SUV through which officers were combing. Police also used a drone.
